Do not be afraid to punish your child if the situation calls for it. When a rule is broken, there must be consequences. If you tell your child not to do something and they turn around and do it, the punishment must be swift and it must be consistent. Children will easily pick up on any inconsistencies in punishment and will try to exploit that if you let them. Be consistent with punishment and nip any of those problems in the bud. Remember, consistency is key!
Be firm but fair
Be strict with your child, but do not be too strict. Remember that a child is just that, a child, and they will make mistakes. It’s hard to put yourself in their shoes and remember when you were a kid, but try if you can and remember that as hard as they try, they are still sometimes going to screw up. Sometimes that calls for a strict punishment, but sometimes it simply calls for a helping, loving hand to set them back on the right path.

Thursday, March 3rd, 2011I was trying to order some Maternity Clothes for my very expecting wife the other night. I was really amazed at the vast selection and options available to expectant mothers! I really had a hard time selecting some maternity pants that she wanted.
What really made my chuckle was the maternity clothing that was available by big name designers. I ended up getting her some Gloria Vanderbilt jeans that were nice, and fit her nicely.
We also found some nice maternity outfits at the mall at Old Navy and the GAP. These two box chan stores are now starting to cater to expectant mothers. They figure that if you wear their maternity clothes, you will also come in and slap their outfits on your newborn child.
H & M also has a fairly decent selection of maternity clothes. My only issue with them is that their clothing tends to be sized for the European market… so they run a little small.
Secondary School in Singapore
Sunday, October 31st, 2010I wonder, do students still get tutors when they are in Secondary School already? Does the Singapore Tuition Agency provide tutors to them if they ever need one?
The reason why I’m asking this is because here in the Philippines, tutors are mostly limited to Grade School students whose ages range from six to twelve years old. The students are pretty much on their own when they get to Secondary School or High School as we call it.
I wouldn’t be surprised though if they still have tutors in Secondary School. After all, the people in Singapore and even their own government put a premium in formal education. The government of Singapore built world-class educational institutions matched with a world-class educational system.
It’s a good thing they already formally opened their doors to students from other parts of the world. Now students from other countries can go to Singapore and study in their schools.
Interactive Music Games in a New Verson
Friday, October 8th, 2010I am so glad to hear that they are coming up with a new version of interactive music games, I heartily recommend them to game reviewers (they have won over 40 prestigious awards in the software, education, kids and parenting categories). We should post more about our own game review projects on our blogs. I promise I will be good on it as soon as next week I think, but anyway count on it. If there is some dire emergency and more resources have to be spent and are thus required, let me know as well. I have lots of thoughts I would love to submit, but there is one text that stands out and it’s called “Poem for a Barcelona Street Musician” — it has a tune in it and maybe that could be turned into an online music game. I will edit it some more and then post here.

It is a known fact that it takes a lot of patience and determination on teaching a child to do proper things and how to behave accordingly on public or certain situation. For kids depend on their parents or they take a cue on what to act sometimes in situation unknown to them. you have to instill guidance and proper behavior. Some parents also needs parental maintenance once in a while so that they could execute the proper discipline. It could be tedious at times and let’s face it, it is not every time that you could do something always appropriate. Grown ups can mess up things too. Both parents needs to have an equal exposure on giving discipline on a child. Both should have a consent on what the other wants to happen or perform. They have to discuss all the possibility or ways on how to raise a kid in order to have an harmonious environment for the child to grow up with.
